I know it's been months since I posted chapter 66 and I'm really sorry for the continued delays. Unfortunately, right after I last posted, we had some upheaval at work that made writing very difficult. There was a change in management of my group, and then layoffs, and for me a change in responsibilities and move to another group. I'm enjoying getting to know a new team and new processes, but there's no doubt that the new position will keep me even busier than my old one, leaving even less time for writing. That's the bad news.
The good news is I realize that last year I spread myself too thin between my original and fan-fic writing and that I cannot keep that up this year. Last year, when I had to choose between the two, the original writing often won. This year I'm choosing the opposite and have put all my original writing on hold until I finish Errors. With my additional work responsibilities and more social obligations at home, plus the everpresent threat of writer's block, my decision may not actually lead to a huge acceleration in posting pace, but at least you can be sure that no other story is tugging me away from this one. And just so we're all clear, the answer to "Has this story been abandoned?" will always be, emphatically and unequivocally, no. Not until you see "the end" (or some equivalent) in the last line of a chapter.
With regard to today's chapter I must, as usual, thank my big twin brother John. I hope you've been keeping up with
Culture Aftershock, because John provides a lot of Errors insights there. A few chapters ago, for example, readers got a rare glimpse into Jasper's thoughts on his renewed relationship with Edward, and yesterday they got a preview of a part of today's Errors chapter. While John and I may be authors of our respective stories, we are collaborators and partners in the E & O Universe, and John deserves much credit for the inspiration and support he provides on a daily basis. Thanks, Babe!
I also have to thank my wonderful Beta, Natalie, who is always game to review a chapter even while she's ill (somehow I always seem to finish these chapters right as she's getting sick - sorry!), as was the case (again) this time. I so, so, so appreciate her input and her eye for finding silly, pesky errors that I always seem to miss. Each chapter of the story is so much better due to her hard work. Thank you, Sweetie!
Last but not least, thank you to all the readers for your continued support and messages. I wish I was a more consistent author, but I'm so grateful to those of you who don't hold my sporadic posting against me. The story will be finished even if John and I are the only ones reading it by the end, but it sure is nice knowing that, at least so far, that isn't the case :). We love all of you and especially appreciate when you let us know your thoughts on the new chapters!
And speaking of which,
here's the link to today's chapter of Errors (As always, you'll also find it in the table of contents in the right hand column.)
I'm not sure on the ETA of the next chapter of Errors, but 5K words are already written, so hopefully it won't be too long.
Sending you all big hugs and kisses,
Love, Liz
PS. For those of you who are interested in my original works, I released my YA novel last November. Because that one is targeted to a younger audience, I published it under a different pen name, but you can find it on the Young Adult section of my
Liz Winters Blog.
Last December, I also released a sequel to my first published story, Handle with Care. Harbor with Caution tells us what happens to Dean and Gabe eight months after their Christmas Eve meeting, when Gabe's ex moves back to Chicago.
As I mentioned above, these will be the last of my original works for a while, until Errors is finished. Enjoy!
